Collection: Marilyn Stubblebine
Bio
Marilyn is an artist residing in Philadelphia, where she exhibits locally, as well as throughout the United States. Her art investigates geometrical and non-geometrical abstraction using experimentations with color, line, and other media to translate, giving voice to her contemplations on the wonder of the movement of life in time and space. The power and fragility of color translate understandings and statements revealing and resonating wonder. Color is the spirit of her art. Expressions of nature, life, words, music, silence, thought, questions, and mystery. Line locates and defines color’s presence. Abstraction offers ambiguity to invite viewers’ unique connections. Primarily a painter, Marilyn also creates collages, altered books with used paperbacks, composes music, and experiments with other media.
Statement
"Wonder offers vitality to each act of creation. Silent musings that echo and re-echo. Before the thoughts. Beyond the sky. The wonder of time past slipping through time present to new tomorrows. As I walk along paths imprinted from yesterdays, I’m accompanied by the shadows of the past. Movement forward opens up new understandings and visions. Breathing with unknowns, I anchor myself through creative acts. I use abstraction. I give voice to color, line, shapes geometric or not. I paint, draw, collage, build, and compose to communicate the movement of mystery, its resonance."
