About Barbara Schaff
Barbara Schaff (1941-2022) grew up in the town of Plainfield New Jersey and attended Hartridge High School. She went on to graduate from Syracuse University in Syracuse New York with BA in English in 1963. Received MFA from Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art and completed a short term study with Academy of Fine Arts in Hangzhou China in 1994. Barbara Schaff, known as Stonehouse Pottery located in Stockton NJ, in the 1970s and 1980s, was an accomplished self-taught production potter making dishware, colanders, soup tourines, punch bowls, mugs and masterful tile pieces which were installed in corporate locations. A resident of Philadelphia for over 30 years Barbara transitioned her time, energy and discipline to painting using oil paint, oil pastels, compressed charcoal and pencil. Known for her Nest collections, participation in Philadelphia Open Studio Tours for years around 2010. She displayed fine paintings at the Sande Webster Gallery in a show entitled Spontaneous Nature in 2010.
