Bio

"As an abstract painter rooted in Philadelphia, I bring a wealth of education and experience to my craft. My love for art began at a young age and flourished as I pursued formal education, earning dual BFA degrees from Jilin University in China and West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

My career includes serving as a senior graphic designer and brand manager at 4A advertising agencies and tech giants in China, where I honed my skills in creating imagery, characters, and advertisement scripts using digital tools. Despite this, I always felt drawn to the traditional art of painting. This passion led me to further my education in the field and study painting in the US, where I am now focused on developing my abstract style, infused with my personal experiences and unique perspective.

I am a member of the Muse Gallery in Philadelphia and recently completed a one-year artist residency at the Delaware Contemporary Museum in 2024."

Statement

"My creative process centers around the exploration of interactive colors and the embrace of unpredictable outcomes. Inspired by Helen Frankenthaler's soak-stain technique, I use handmade high-fluid acrylics applied directly to raw canvas, encouraging dynamic color interactions and unexpected results. To enrich the tactile nature of my work, I incorporate soft pastels, colored pencils, and charcoal, adding depth and texture.

Known for creating emotionally resonant artworks, my paintings convey dynamic movement and vibrant colors that radiate energy and vitality. Spontaneous color relationships and fluid pigment interactions characterize each piece, capturing the lively exchange of energy that unfolds in splashes of paint and color interplay.

I strive to craft visual spaces that invite viewers to reflect on spirituality and movement, fostering an evolving connection between the artwork and the observer. This interaction among colors creates a continuous dialogue that immerses viewers in themes of human connection, energy, and space.

In my recent series of gestural floral paintings, my artistic curiosity is driven by the vibrant colors and forms of Henri Matisse, along with a profound love for nature's vitality and blooming flowers. These works seek to embody freedom and innovation, inviting viewers to experience the undeniable dynamic energy of nature in full bloom."
