Vivienne Varay is an artist, object maker, and contemporary jeweler. While studying for her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Arizona State University, she discovered that jewelry gave her the opportunity to create objects that are intimate, audacious, and provocative. Through her work she captures emotionally impactful moments of her life and relationships. These works are often exaggerated confessions of love, obsession, and acceptance. After completing her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Georgia, she relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she continues to work out of her private studio space and exhibits her work nationally and internationally.
Frost is a series of earrings made of sterling silver and vitreous enamel. Each piece has been etched with an X as a symbol of sexuality, restriction, and connection. My work is about by my relationships and these pieces are inspired by nostalgia for the places I have lived and the anticipation of change.
