Bio

Nhi Vo (b.’94) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She earned a BFA in Sculpture from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She has received numerous awards, including  William Emlen Cresson Memorial Travel Scholarship, the Judith Mcgregor Caldwell Purchase Prize for PAFA’s Permanent Collection, and 2021 Harpo Foundation Artist recipient. Vo is currently a Yale School of Architecture master candidate. 

Artist statement 

There is a certain type of discipline present in my work. Laborious repetitions appear to rule the measure of it. Each piece has the image of obsession, a narrative of accumulation of small acts carried out over an extended period of time. The articulation of repeated vocabularies, stories, and definitions often plays in patterns as an exploration of the visual dimension of language. Often, the agglomerate subjects lose their legibility, resulting in an autonomous image(s).
