Collection: Lee Muslin
Guided by intuition, I create art that is about expression and movement. Abstraction allows me to respond to my internal world of feeling. I am drawn to the freedom and the challenges inherent in painting that is not based in reality but in imagination. It is an improvisational process of experimentation and discovery that captures the unconscious to bring forth an emotional response. As an avid swing dancer, it is only natural that the rhythm of music seeps into my work. Listening to music while I paint fosters an innate response with my brush or mark making tools - fast, slow, calm, excited. Music and art, especially abstract art, are intertwined because they both use the same fundamentals such as repetition, variety, intensity, rhythm, balance and unity.
Over the last 25 years, I have participated in over 300 exhibitions throughout the United States, as well as several other countries, including 21 solo shows. Three of my solo exhibitions were in Philadelphia and 5 were in New York City. Many New York and Philadelphia gallerists and museum curators have selected my art for numerous juried shows. I am so humbled and honored to have received 35 awards including Best of Show from the North Penn Arts Alliance, First Prize from Artists’ Equity and First Prize in Watermedia at the Meadowood Juried Exhibition.
