Jean Broden has been creating art all of her life, and oil painting for over twenty years. She has taken part in a number of group exhibits in the area, and shows her work at a variety of art festivals and on her website. She has also had some local solo exhibits including one at the Muse Gallery in2019. Broden received a BFA from Moore College of Art & Design in Illustration, and a MA in Art Education from Arcadia University. While pursuing her passion for painting, she also taught high school art classes for almost twenty years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. "My work consists mostly of urban street scenes and vintage still life objects. In both subjects the focus is on the past, architecturally or in product design. The work is meant to give the viewer pause; to reflect on ordinary objects and places in a new light – one of design. The imagery comes from photographs of the places that I travel through on a regular basis in and around the Philadelphia area, or from objects collected in those travels."
