About Benjamin B. Olshin:
This series is from a collection labelled "canned art": recycled metal food cans are used to "host" small scenes, constructed through the media of collage, paper, graphite, ink, and other materials. The pieces are designed be a bit ironic, a bit amusing, and a bit thought-provoking about materiality and materialism, issues of scale, and the real versus the simulated. In this series, the cans host two scenes of Egyptian sites, a desert island, and a bit of the American southwest.
*This piece is currently on view as a part of Inliquids exhibition New Now VII, running from July 25 - August 31
